Bonds and tiers
How an owner will bond RCNS behind an agent for a tier, how unbonding and slashing work, and what runs where today — testnet only.
Planned. This page describes something that does not exist yet. It says which parts are true today and which are not.
Planned, on testnet only. Nothing on this page is on Robinhood Chain mainnet. Bonds are designed for Robinhood Chain testnet (chain 46630) against a mock token until the contracts are audited and the token exists; until then every agent on mainnet reads Unbonded.
A tier is how a check says an agent's owner has something to lose. It needs two things: a track record the chain shows, and a bond of RCNS that can be slashed.
Tiers
A tier is the lower of the two: a record tier, posted by Recensus from the census, and a bond tier, read live from the bond contract. A record with no bond is no tier; a check says which tier the record alone would meet, so an owner can see what a bond would buy.
| Tier | Days active | Labelled txs | Independent counterparties | Bond (RCNS) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 7 | 10 | 3 | set when the token exists |
| Silver | 30 | 100 | 10 | set when the token exists |
| Gold | 90 | 1,000 | 25 | set when the token exists |
Bonding
- The bond owner is the agent's owner: for an ERC-8004 agent, the token's current owner, read from the Identity Registry on-chain; for a Recensus claim, the address the ID is derived from, or one bound with a signed statement.
- A bond counts only while its depositor still owns the agent. A token transferred away leaves its bond with the old owner, counting for nothing until withdrawn, and the check flags
NEW_OWNER. Buying a bonded agent buys no tier. - Unbonding is the whole bond: a request starts a 14-day unbonding, the tier goes at the request, and the bond can be withdrawn after the period. It stays slashable throughout, and a withdrawal waits while a slash proposal is open. A cancelled unbond restores it. The check flags
RECENTLY_UNBONDEDfor 30 days.
Slashing
Slashes are never automatic. Recensus proposes one with its evidence published; a 72-hour challenge window follows, in which the owner can answer; after it, an arbiter (a multisig behind an interface) executes or dismisses it, challenged or not. A slash takes at most the bond. A share of it (at most half) goes to whoever reported the abuse, and the rest is burned.
Every parameter — the proposer, the arbiter, the burn share, the tier amounts — changes only by a proposal and an application at least the unbonding period and a day apart, so an owner who sees a proposal can always leave first.
The tier registry
A public contract any app or contract can read for free: tierOf(agentId). The paid API will also sign attestations of an agent's tier and flags that a contract can verify on-chain.
Sequence
Bonds and tiers on Robinhood Chain testnet with a mock token → an independent audit → the token and bonds on mainnet together, on the operator's decision. RCNS launches only with working, audited bonds (Token).
